At present, some developed countries are experiencing a slower rate of economic growth and their competitive advantage in the work of weakening, this slowdown result from worldwide inflation and shortage of energy, resources, food and capital. It also results from the difficulties met by public and private corporations in finding sufficient funds to replace outmoded technologies with newer ones, which are environmentally safe, energy efficient, and high competitive. These are but some of the problem confronting the city today. A more holistic approach is needed in meeting these crises faced by many cities of the world.
In order to gain a competitive edge in world markets and domestics markets as well as to achieve continued growth, developed countries need investment in new technologies and expansion or organization and personnel.
As predicted by some social scientist, unless priorities are fixed and strategies for achieving goals are established, crises are likely to follow one after the other, partial solutions will prove ineffective, and the erosion of the urban environment might continue.
