Conflict arises when the rules of cooperation are broken and the opponents become openly antagonistic to each other. However, there are instances when the struggle starts as conflict right from the beginning. Mack and Pease define conflict as “a form of emotionalized and violent opposition in which the major concern is to overcome the opponent as a means of securing a given goal or reward.”

According to one expert, “conflict is a form of mutual interaction through which two or more persons attempt to remove each other, either by annihilating or by rendering the other party ineffectual.”

Conflict is an activity intended to hurt others physically or mentally or to deprive others of liberty or property and an activity designed to prevent one from being intentionally hurt or deprived by others. Like competition, conflict, is motivated by the desire to secure a scarce foal or common values. In conflict is motivated by the desire to secure a scarce foal or common belies. In conflict, the focus of attention is on the opponent. The person or group tires to block, defeat, destroy, or annihilate the opponent with utter disregard of the rules.
